Quote of the "month"

October 2006

"I still cry everyday," she says softly. "I think about Mary all the time. We've been to all these places with her," she says looking around the venue in which we're sitting. "Now we have to establish new memories without her and it's really hard."

"This album is many things, but it is mainly us turning our backs to the non-life that might be death or to depression turning your back to that. Not blocking it out because sadness is there and there are things that have happened that can take a long time to heal. It's not denial but certainly looking forward."

"Once you're in this process there is no going back. And there is no point anyway." - Laetitia Sadier, on recording the album Margerine Eclipse following the death of fellow Stereolab member Mary Hansen, from Umbrella Music interview, 8 May 2004.

It's been a long time since I made a post, hasn't it? Sad, but true. A few updates are in order.

A couple of days ago, I actually watched a student put a bagel in a toaster oven, not turn it on, stare it for a couple of minutes, then take the bagel out and walk away. This was after he cut in front of me for the toaster oven at the People's Place. Brilliant, no?

I flew out to Vegas a couple of weeks ago and got married by Elvis. That was pretty interesting. I sould have been keeping a journal, but that would have been far too intelligent. I will say that I only lost $15 gambling, but I spent a few hundred dollars in restaurants. I never had any idea the food in that town was so good.

I've been keeping busy doing some recording. I've been doing a little work on a project with a friend who has a bunch of songs he wants to record. Hopefully, we'll get that going more in the Spring. I've also been working with the Hot Steppers., a local reggae group. I recorded three songs a couple of weeks ago. We'll be mixing this weekend, and I'll also be recording their gig at the Electric Company in Utica on Saturday night.

I probably have some more stuff to add to the writings section. And I need to revamp this website a touch. I don't know how soon that will happen, though, as I have two papers due soon.

Welcome to NineNinjas.com. We hope you will enjoy your stay. Right now we're moving some things around, but we'll have it all sorted out soon.
